I had such wonderful plans to play in my craftroom all day but my uncle asked me to help him with a few errands and I just couldn’t say no.  I did manage to get one card done before my hubby got home from work so I’m going to make this a quick post.

I started with Skipping Stones Design’s sketch for this week’s challenge.  Doesn’t this adorable image make you want to hug someone near?  I found this digi at Cuddly Buddly.  I know I didn’t use the typcial green color for the dinosaur but have you seen a real dinosaur, maybe this is how they really look :-)

I diecut a couple of stars using a Spellbinder die and topped each of them with a punched out star that were left over from an EK Success star border punch.  The papers are from My Mind’s Eye.

For my card, I’m using the sketch from Sketches by Carly.  I combined 3 different Mami Doodle digi stamps to make this “love”ly scene.  Although I didn’t incorporate the freebie sentiment from TLC I am using a different TLC sentiment that I purchased last year for making Valentine cards.  A Spellbinder die was used to mat the image.

I used two layers of ribbon and topped it with a felt heart that was die cut using a PTI die, topped it with a Wild Orchid flower and added a button to the center of the flower.

As I was driving home from work tonight I started thinking about making a card.  I don’t usually much creative energy after working 9 hours but today I had a late lunch with my sister-in-law, niece and grand-niece and seeing her little butt (my grand-niece’s, he he!) it reminded me of the lacey bottoms of little girl outfits.  See there is inspiration everywhere and this perfect digi stamp is  from Karen’s Doodles.   I made this card as a birthday card but I can easily see it as a baby card.

I took my sketch inspiration from My Time Made Easy’s sketch challenge – it is a nice simple sketch that didn’t tax my brain too much.

I printed the sentiment on cardstock to layer on top of my mat cut to fit the size of card I’m making – I rounded the corners to give the card just a bit of a different look.

I didn’t have any lace so I used a Martha Stewart lace border punch, punching on two sides of the paper to make for a nice wide piece of lace.  I dug into my stash of ribbon and found this adorable ruffly ribbon.

After coloring the image, I cut it out and added foam dots to the back of the image so it could set atop the the ruffled ribbon.  I added a small satin bow to complete the card.

I’m trying to get ahead a bit on some of my cardmaking today.  My oldest grandson’s birthday is in March and he love’s pirates.  I’m combining 4 different stamps (5 if you count the balloon ribbon).  All of these digi stamps are from Eureka Stamps, they have an entire line of these balloon – stay tuned you never know when I’ll get around to using others I have!

I’m using this sketch from Woodware are my layout inspiration.

I used one of my favorite tools, copic markers – I love to color my images. I’m still learning but I’ve definitely come a long way since I first started.  Another of my favorite tools is my embossing folders, the only thing I use more than my folders are my variety of dies.

I’m using one of the older BasicGrey papers, Granola for the base of my card.  I liked the color of the paper but I wanted a bit of texture so I ran it through a steampunk embossing folder and lightly swiped the surface is distress ink.  I then took another strip of the same paper and ran it through this time using swiss dots and lightly swiping it this time with Momento black ink, a quick and easy way to make polka-dotted paper!

I stamped Happy Birthday using a PTI stamp, the number 7 is a vinyl sticker and the rest of the sentiment I printed out and matted.  A few black flat-backed rhinestones were added to complete the card.

Todays card was inspired by Pollycraft’s Monday Challenge.  This week they have a BINGO challenge – these are so much fun as we get to choose which three elements we want to do when making our project.  By the time I finished my card I realized I had  a double BINGO.  I have Ribbon, Image and Pearls one way and Die Cuts, Image and Flowers another way.

I enjoy a good sketch challenge and I think the challenge from Simon Says is just that.

Before Christmas I purchased four of Pollycrafts Little Stars digi stamps.  I haven’t had a chance to play with this one yet so today seemed like the perfect time to.

The pretty papers are from Me and My Big Ideas’ Baby Girl paper pad.  The polka dotted paper is flocked, it so soft and oh so pretty.  Did you notice the star?  It is paper pieced using another of the flocked papers!  This is one paper pad that I’ve used just about every pattern in it.  I’ve had this pad for over a year, but it is my go-to collection when I’m making a baby girl card – I just love the soft colors, the different textures and all of the patterns.

I diecut a matching flower from the papers and layered another flower on top of it and paired it with a couple more flowers from Wild Orchid.

I used a Marianne Designs doily die to layer behind the image.  The corner element is also a Marianne die that I added a few pearls to (I snipped off the end).

For some reason lately I’ve started layering ribbons, I like how it gives it a bit of a texture without adding a bulky bow.  I made the sentiment - feel free to use it, I’m always flattered when someone likes it enough to use it on one of their projects.  I used a Spellbinder die to cut out the sentiment and then ran the second ribbon through it.

Wow!  Where did the week go?  It’s already late Saturday evening and I am finally getting around to making a card with Card Positioning System’s sketch challenge this week.  I saw this sketch on Sunday and knew I wanted to give a go at this sketch challenge.

I saw all kinds of possibilites in using this sketch but the one that jumped out at me was that this is a sketch where the paper can be the highlight of the card.  If you are like me and LOVE my designer paper but I hate to use it because it is “too pretty” to use, here a way for the paper to shine through as very little of it is covered.

I didn’t use a lot of embellishments when making this card.  The sentiment is one that I made a while back but I’ll post it again in case you didn’t get a chance to grab it.  I die cut it using a PTI die.  I didn’t have a corresponding mat but all I did was trace around the outside of the die and used the shape as a mat.

The side embellishment are diecut using PTI felt and a PTI die.  All I needed was one embellishment that I cut in half.  If you’ve never tried PTI felt you don’t know what you’re missing.  I’m not affiliated in any way with PTI but this felt cuts like a dream.  I read somewhere this die is not recommended for use with felt due to all of the small cutouts, PTI felt is no nice and dense and has such an even texture that it cuts like butter.  A small butterfly from Pizzazz Aplenty was added to complete the card.

Yesterday I made a baby girl card, today a card for a baby boy.  I spent the day with one of my grandsons as he has a double ear infection and unable to go to daycare.  It’s a good thing Gramma’s daycare was open today :-)

Blue is my all time favorite color so I thought I’d make something blue.  After spending the day with a little boy maybe that’s where my color inspiration came from!  Then I found this week’s challenge at Crafts 4 Eternity and they have this color recipe to use – well I knew I had to go for it!

I used this weeks sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday. The image I chose to is use is Louie and Teddy from Digi Stamp Boutique.  As luck would have it they are sponsoring this week’d SSW challenge.  All I did was rotate rotate the card on it’s side and flip it a bit but all in all I can tell it is the sketch – I  hope you can too!

The flowers were spritzed with some glimmer spray for a bit of shimmer and topped with buttons – after all babies are cute as buttons, aren’t they?

I wanted to add a bit of lace to my card but all of the lace I had wasn’t dainty enough so I used an EK Success border punch and made a paper lace and topped it with a ribbon.  I used a Spellbinder die to frame the digi stamp.

Valentine’s Day is less than a month away so today I thought I’d make a card for this special occasion.  Tiddly Inks just released a few new digi images and I think this little darling is absolutely adorable.  She perfect not only for Valentine’s Day but I can see using her for Mother’s day, Birthdays, just about anytime you want to show someone you care about them.

For those of you that regularly follow my blog, you know how much I enjoy combining sketch and color challenges.  Today’s card is no exception.  I fell in love with My Time Made Easy’s color challenge.  I don’t think I’ve ever used pink and navy together on a card before. I know it’s hard to tell but yes the matting is navy cardstock not black – you’ll just have to trust me!

Next I went through all of the sketch challenges that would allow me to highlight these colors.  I didn’t want to use any designer papers just cardstock so I ran the pink cardstock through 3 different embossing folders – each on has a different texture to it.  I think the sketch from Sketchy Colors is just perfect!

The sentiment was printed from my printer and added to the card.  The ends of the sentiment are made by using a square punch and just snipping of the end of the cardstock at an angle.  A few flowers were added to complete the card.

The Tiddly Ink’s digi not only comes with this adorable girl but it also comes with a digi sentiment!  I wanted to use both but the sentiment didn’t work quite right with the sketch so I put a bit of a spin on to my card and made it into an easel card.

Hannah and Friends – Easel Card

I found out a couple of months ago my daughter is pregnant with a baby girl.  I’ve been holding off making anything pink not wanting to jinx her – like somehow the sex of the baby will change if I do too many things that are pink.  With four grandsons it will be fun to have a little girl in the mix.

For today’s card I’m using a sketch from My Time Made Easy.  Little Sleepy Head is a LOTV stamp and the sentiment is part of the stamp set.  The DP is from Me and My Big Ideas Baby Girl paper pad, the polka-dot paper is flocked, love the feel of it!.  The flourish is a Marianne Design die.  I added a couple of rhinestones to just a touch of sparkle!

So many wonderful challlenges…. Not enough hours in the day!  I would love to play along with every challenge out there but I have to pick and choose now that I am employed – there are days when I miss being able to stay in my jammies and just sit in my craft room all day.

For my card, I am using the sketch from The Sweet Stop’s challenge this week.  Several of the challenges this week have a similar theme – to use stripes and dots.  So I chose papers from Martha Stewart’s Modern Festive paper pad, if you look closely at the cloud paper it has micro-polkadots on it.  I purchased this paper pad quite a awhile back and just haven’t used it much, I wanted some brighter colors to dream of summertime!

The challenge this week at Lili’s Litte Fairies is to use our favorite LOTV stamp – that’s like asking a mother which is her favorite child.  Let’s just say, may favorite LOTV stamp is the one I happen to be using at the time – I LOVE them all!!!  The sentiment is also a LOTV stamp.

For embellishments I added a double layer of PTI ribbon and diecut felt flowers and topped each with a pearl.  All felt is not created equal – the felt from PTI is a nice heavy felt and has an even thickness to it, it diecuts beautifully!
