We are in the full swing for Fall here in North Dakota; the leaves are turning and showing us their autumnal color palette, the nights are cooling down and the daylight hours are shortening every day.

Paper: Blue Ski and Leaves - Little Yellow Bicycle

Faith outdid herself for this Blog Hop and variety of images.  Not only are there new fall images but there are also wintery/ Christmas images.  If you are like me, I’m trying to get a jump on my holiday cards – hopefully this will result in a more relaxing holiday season!

This is an aperture card, the outside has the opening with the snowflakes surrounding it.  The image and sentiment are on the inner part of the card as seen here:

Papers: Little Mittens - Nitwit Digi Papers
Die: Snowflakes - Stampin' Up Snowflake Border

I have one last card to share with you -

I’m not sure how well you can tell by looking at the photo but the middle of the card is an acetate panel – you can see to the inner part of the card where the sentiment is.  I took the sentiment from O Christmas Treen and cropped it off and used it for the inside panel.

The tricky thing about working with acetate is the backside shows so I finished off the back of the from of the card – a hint for you if you decide to try this, reverse everything (mirror image)! or things won’t align very well.

Emboss Resist with CCC

I enjoy watching snowflakes gently falling to the ground!  Unfortunately here in North Dakota that is a rarity.  Whenever it snows, it seems like we have 30-40 mph winds and it is a blizzard and many inches of snow.  But every once in awhile we get just a dusting of snow that pretties up the landscape.

We have a technique challenge for you to try this week at Christmas Card Challenges. We’d love to see Embossing Resist somewhere on your project.  If you’ve never tried this technique here is an excellent tutorial for you from Splitcoaststampers.

I have to admit, I’ve only tried this technique once before but I was up for the challenge.  I grabbed a couple of stamps, stamped them on to white cardstock and sprinkled it with clear embossing powder – heat set it and then grabbed a handful of PTI ink pads and away I went.  I tried to not overthink it and just kept adding color here and there. I think my night-time color palette turned out pretty well, the purple accent is a bit of an unexpected color.

I wanted to add a bit of glittery snow to the trees so I dabbed them with some stickles.  The sentiment is from a digi sentiment I made awhile ago but as you can tell the shape didn’t work for a circle punch.  That is the nice thing about digi sentiments, I just pushed the sentiment in from the side and made it into a square sentiment which worked much better with a circle punch – gotta love working with digi’s!

To mat the sentiment I used one of the snowflakes die cut from Stampin’ Up’s Snowflake Border Die.  I took the snowflake and pressed it into a VersaMark pad, sprinkled it with Heat and Stick Powder, melted it and sprinkled ultrafine prism glitter over it and heat set it again.  The sparkle doesn’t show well in the photograph but in real life it sparkles beautifully.

Paper: Cardstock

Stamps: Lovely as a Tree – Stampin’ Up, Snowflakes – Great Impressions

Die Cut: Snowflake Border Die – Stampin’ Up, Circle – Spellbinders

Punch: Circle – EK Success

Embellishments: Stickles, Heat and Stick Powder – Stampin’ Up, Ultra Fine Glitter – Stewart Superior

I hope I’ve inspired you to join us for this week’s challenge at Christmas Card Challenges!  Dee

Wishing you…

Happiness and Cheer, This Holiday Season & Throughout the Year!

Today is my first “Official” card as a DT for the Christmas Card Challenges.  I was so excited to be part of this team that I jumped the gun a bit and made a card for last weeks challenge and being the super sweet team that they are, they included my card I had made for the challenge.

This week our challenge is “Sentiment Only”.  Do you have a favorite holiday expression or a saying that is meaningful for you?  Why not highlight the phase and make a project using it?

I’ve always liked this saying and I wanted to do something a bit different so I split up the sentiment and made a Christmas Tree with the phrase – okay, I know it probably looks more like a cake but it is supposed to be a tree – it’s green after all :-) and I did top it with a star!  But you get the idea!

Paper: SEI – Alpine Frost Collection

Punch: EK Success border punch.

Die Cut: Spellbinder star die.

Sentiment: Computer generated using a variety of fonts

Embellishment: Ribbon

I hope I’ve inspired you to join us for this weeks challenge at Christmas Card Challenges – I can’t wait to see what you create!  Dee

Being Together

Being together is the best gift of all!  Isn’t that what the holidays are all about?  I love getting together with family and friends and sharing the holiday magic.

I’m so excited to fill you in on a secret I’ve had for awhile.  I’ve been asked to be part of the Christmas Card  Challenge Design Team!!!  I can’t believe I am going to be part of this creative and inspiration group – I’m a frequent visitor to many of these designers as they continually come up with some of the most adorable creations!  Hopefully I too can inspire you in the weeks to come to get a few of those holiday cards made early so you can sit back enjoy the holidays just a bit more!

Today our challenge is BLING, you can use pearls or rhinestones – it is up to you!  Let your imagination run wild!  For my bling I added a string of rhinestones as Christmas lights to the tree – this card sparkles!

I designed the sentiment – feel free to use it if you like it!

Celebrate the Magic of Christmas

Super quick post – I should be bed but wanted to get one last card posted tonight :-)

I purchased this digi image last year and didn’t get around to coloring it – well I wasn’t going to let another year go by without using this adorable stamp from Chrissy Armstrong at Whimsy Stamps.  The challenge this month at Sundays with Crissy is Anything Goes – you still have a few days to enter if you are interested!  The sentiment is a stamp from PaperTrey Ink.

Tomorrow our children will be here and we will be celebrating our Christmas so I won’t be posting tomorrow but hopefully I get a chance on Thursday!  Dee
