Down on the Farm

Whole Herd

Crazy 4 Challenges this week is challenging us to use our “favorite” stamp set.  I had to think long and hard as to which stamp set that would be – it’s like choosing who your favorite child is.  But after a long deliberation….I decided my all-time favorite stamp set is Oh Crop from Here She Goes Stamps.  Maybe it’s because I grew up on a farm and a lot of my relatives still live on a farm or have farming in the backgrounds but this is my go-to stamp set when making a card for them. This card is going to my brother whose birthday is on Halloween.  Having one’s birthday on Halloween is just as bad as having a birthday on Christmas Day – no one want to come to your party so you have to celebrate it another day – needless to say, I didn’t want my card to have anything to do with a Halloween theme.

I used a variety of cardstock pieces leftover from other projects.  I’ve been hesitant to try washi tape but I had a roll just setting out and thought this would be a great time to try it – wow, what a quick little burst of color it added!  Other than that, no other embellishments were added.  I embossed the background to the farm to give a bit of texture but that was about it – quick and easy!

Thanks for the visit!  Dee

Fill the Heart

Color Inspiration – Paper Sweeties

papersweeties inspiration12 Paper Sweeties October #12 Inspiration Challenge!

Technique: Used a variety of PaperTrey Ink ink pads and dabbed them onto white cardstock, I then spritzed the paper to give it a bit of a blended, blotched effect and then stamped and die cut the leaves.  The pumpkin on the second card is made but layering three ovals together and adding a green stem.

Magic Spell

Magic Spell

Can you believe in just a little more than a week we are going to have a bunch of little ghosts and goblins ringing out doorbells?  I just love seeing all of the little ones in their Halloween finery 🙂  I only hope the weather cooperates and winter coats don’t need to be worn over their wonderful costumes!

With Halloween just around the corner, it’s a perfect time for a Halloween challenge at Di’s Digi Designs.  I had two Halloween images and I couldn’t decide which of them to use so I decided to combine the two to make a Halloween scene!  I hope you’ll be able to join in for our challenge that runs for the next two weeks!

We are so lucky to have There  She  Goes Clear Stamps as our sponsor for this challenge.  I don’t own too many clear stamps but I do have a few of the TSG stamps and I LOVE them.  I love the versatility of the stamps, they can often be combined to make a variety of scenes so you’re not just having one stamp that makes one image.  Check them out when you have a minute!

Pretty in Pink

wwbb

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and a pink ribbon is used as a symbol to raise that awareness.  I’m trying something a bit different – I made two cards with the positive and negative patterns using pink as my inspiration color.  I stayed with a monochromatic color palette and I like how the two cards turned out.  There are a few differences – can you find them?

Okay, you know how I said I was going to get at least one Christmas card each week???  I know, I know, I haven’t been too good about getting them done but yesterday my family was wonderful and gave me a ME day.  I spent the whole day playing in my craftroom, I got caught up all of the DT projects and even had some time to make a few cards “just for fun”.  All of the cards I make are just for fun but every once in awhile it’s nice to take a look at all of the challenges out there and just play!

Shoot for the Moon

Shoot for the Moon

I’m trying to  use up my stash of DP that I’ve purchased over the years, it’s like I love it too much to use it which is silly.  As I was laying out the papers this little monkey just happened to under the circle die and I though – Hey, why not use it instead of coloring up a stamp?  So no stamps, no digi papers – quite the departure for me!  I added my favorite technique – faux stitching.  I love to use this technique when I’m too lazy to dig out my sewing machine – the trick for me is to have a new gel pen that flows nicely.

As I was making this card the song Rocket Man by Elton John kept popping up in my head – I haven’t listened to Elton for awhile so I logged on to Rhapsody and I enjoyed listening to his new album!
