Moonlight Snowman

Moonlight Snowman

I struggle taking nice photos when coloring with purples but I think this captures the colors pretty well.  In my head when I saw the sketch I was going to add the felt snowflakes as the three elements down the right side, wrong… the proportion was all wrong so I added gems.  I still wanted to use the snowflakes so I added a bit more embellishment across the top and secure them with gemstone brads.

Mistletoe Birdbrain

Mistletoe BB

I know I’ve said it many times before, but….I LOVE sketch challenges as they challenge me to get out of my comfort zone and create something I wouldn’t have been able to do otherwise.  Today’s card from I {heart} Sketches is a wonderful example – I would have never thought to put these elements together.  Every once in awhile I look back at a completed card and think – WOW, I really like this one.  Guess what???  I really like this one:-)

Autumn Mums

It’s my aunt’s 100th birthday and she deserves a special birthday card!  My aunt is a very special lady, she entered the Order of St Benedict’s in her teens and has devoted her life to others.  My aunt has always been a wonderful baker and to this day you can still find her baking bread – of course she doesn’t use any recipes!  She is definitely a young 100 – I can only hope to follow in her footsteps one day.

Happy Birthday Auntie!

Have you ever been in the situation where you just didn’t have the right color embellishment or ribbon?  Grab your copics!  I’ve used copics to color gems, ribbon, twine and in this case the silver butterfly – don’t you agree this butterfly is much prettier with a coppery sheen?

Thanks so much for the visit – I hope I’ve inspired you to give this week’s sketch challenge a try!  Dee

Mittens

MittensMojo Monday has this great sketch I had to try, of course I just realized the challenge is going to close in a just a few minutes.  I think sometimes when a person doesn’t have all day to work on a card, it forces a person to make some quick decisions and just go with it.  I don’t know about you but sometimes it takes me over an hour just to decide on which paper to use and I won’t even admit how long I can take to decide on a font to use 🙂

Paper: Eskimo Eskapades – Nitwit Collection
Stamp: Mitten – Sizzix

Girly Creations

Penny's Petting Pals

The theme for the next two weeks at Di’s Digi Design Challenges is Girly Creations.  I am so far behind this year getting all of my Christmas cards made so I thought I’d try to take a non-traditional holiday image and make it into a Christmas card.  All-in-all I really like how it turned out.

I added a bit of faux stitching using an old tracing wheel from back in the day when I actually did some sewing – so much quicker than piercing each stitch one at a time.

Our FABULOUS Sponsor this fortnight is DIGI DARLA DESIGNS and they are offering 5 digis of choice from their shop!!

Go Nuts…

It’s your birthday!

It’s my birthday today too 🙂

NutsBirthdays are all about being a bit squirrelly and today’s card it just that – literally and figuratively!  In hindsight I wish I had used a cream color base as the white seems a bit too harsh for an autumn card but it’s not too bad – next time I’ll give the cream a whirl.  I always seem to struggle to make birthday cards for those special guys in my life but I think this is works well especially with the geometric embossed background.
