Christmas is…

love with all the trimmings!

Happy Sunday!  Today we have a really fun challenge for you at Christmas Card Challenges – “Texture”.  I used liquid applique to add texture to the hat and felt to give the leaves a bit of a tactile feel.  I also did some paper piecing – I find this a nice way to add some patterns to clothing.

Other ways to add texture would be to use a glittered paper or use some embossing either wet or dry, add a few buttons or brads – so many possibilites.  But as always, the theme is just a suggestion – you can enter any project as long it fits the Holiday/Christmas/Winter/Hanukkah theme.

Let it Snow

It is so nice and summery here it is almost hard to get in the mood to make a few holiday cards but I know I will be so happy when December rolls around that I did!

Week #30

Today we have a new challenge for you at Christmas Card Challenges, we’d love to see “Rolled Paper Flowers” on your project.  I’ve made rolled flowers before but with felt, one of the really nice things about rolled paper flowers is if you use double-sided papers the design elements really add to the beauty of the flower.  If I have but one suggestion for you when making the paper flowers, don’t roll them too tightly, I did mine quite loose and they have just enough dimension but yet will easily slip into an envelope.

I found a new sketch challenge blog, Freshly Made Sketches.  If you’ve never visited this site, grab a cup of coffee and enjoy all of the wonderful creations.  I really appreciate these sketches as these are more my style – not quite clean and simple as some embellishment is acceptable.

Easter Chick

I am really looking forward to Easter this year – I haven’t decided how many eggs to hide for the grandkids to hunt for but I’m thinking the more the better!

Don’t fall off your chairs but I did this card without any outside inspiration – no sketch challenge, no color challenge and I think it turned out pretty well just winging in.
