Cake, Lots of Cake

If I’m ever stuck for design inspiration, I love to play along with sketch challenges. I don’t know about you, but I can easily get stuck in a rut and use the same layout over and over again for my card designs. Today’s card is curtesy of MFT’s Sketch #691. Whenever a sketch is sponsored by a company, I try my best to use that companies products on my card. Today, I grabbed the adorable JB Kitchen Cuties. So fun and so easy to color! The design papers are from Nitwit Collections Idyllic and the card base is Summer Splash cardstock from MFT.

Butterfly Sympathy

The challenge this week at Simon Says Stamp is Anything Goes. It seems I never have enough sympathy cards so I thought I’d pull out an oldie but goodie stamp set from Honey Bee Stamps; Praying Big Time and my new, gorgeous Brutus Monroe Butterfly Beauty papers. I also used Gina K Stamps Master Layout 8 dies – I really appreciate all of the companies that provide A7 products!

With just a few hours left for this week’s SSS Easter/Spring Challenge, I chose to use Spellbinder’s Large Die of the Month for February, Floral Bunny Basket. This card (other than the sentiment) is made entirely with dies – so fun and so quick to throw a card together. A few gems were added to complete the card.

You Make Moo so Happy

I’m obsessed with the Scottish Highland cows…I think they are just so darn cute. I was so excited with MFT’s latest release and they had a stamp set featuring these cows – You Make Moo so Happy. I sure hope I’ll get a chance to see them when we visit Scotland in a couple of months. Between the Highland cows and the Scottish black-faced sheep; I don’t which I like better!

I haven’t done a color challenge in months and I stumbled upon MFT’s inspiration using blue, green, brown and white.

I used Gina K Designs Master Layout #8 for the design elements and Trinity Stamps Slimline Stitched Strips (gotta love the stitching :-))

It feels like forever ago since I last played along with an MFT Sketch Challenge. For todays card, I’m using a new(er) stamp set – JB Books and Buddies. Rather than using the circle element on the card, I pulled out my Stitched Hexagon Stax dies (I don’t think they are available any more but I do see they have other hexagon dies on MFT’s website).

Tulip Time

The challenge this week at Simon Says Stamp is Bit ‘O Green…for me this is definitely a challenge as green is one of my least favorite colors. Looking at my desk, I had these two tulips that I assembled a couple of weeks ago and just hadn’t gotten around to using them in making a card.

Tulips for me are an indicator that spring is just around the corner. In fact, far too often they come up out of the ground and get covered with a blanket of snow.
