Winter Wonderland

Welcome to another Aud Sentiments challenge and this week we have a fun challenge for you – Winter!  I know I’m not ready to see that white, fluffy stuff outside my window but I don’t mind seeing it in my craft room.  Unfortunately in North Dakota we rarely get the picturesque scenes with the snowly softly falling to the ground and covering the lawn with an inch or two of snow. Oh! No! We have sub-zero temps, 40-50 mph winds and 10 inches of snow at a time. Okay – I may be exaggerating a bit but that’s the way it feels.

I can’t believe how lucky we are for this challenge – our sponsor is one of my favorite stamp companies, Lili of the Valley.  Check out this fabulous prize they are providing:

I’m using one of the new LOTV stamps – Twinkling Star, I think she is super sweet and love the background with the snow falling. I colored the image using copics, the stars and falling snowflakes are dotted with Stickles for sparkle.  The “colored” the fur with glossy accents and sprinkled Prisma glitter over the top.  The snow on the bottom is DecoArt’s Snow Writer.  I sure wish I could play along as there are a couple more stamps I’d love to get!

If you’re anything like me you probably have supplies left from last year.  If you’ve followed my blog for awhile you know how much I LOVE my designer paper and how I hate to use it – silly I know!  The DP Wonderland – Warm Hearts is from Dream Street Papers LLC. The swirls remind me me of snow swirling from a gust of wind.

Our nearest Michaels is 200 miles away so last year when I had the chance to shop there, I bought roll after roll of Christmas ribbon.  Of course, I couldn’t use it all and I’m glad I didn’t as this ribbon is the perfect accent for this card.

The entire time I was coloring my image the song, Walking in a Winter Wonderland, kept running in my mind so I knew exactly what the sentiment for my card would be.  The sentiment is from Crafty Sentiments, this is one of six sentiments in the set of digital stamps.  It’s hard to see but I punched out the sentiment with a circle punch and then matted it with a Spellbinder zigzag diecut.  I punched a couple of snowflakes using an EK Success punch and topped each with a rhinestone.

I hope I’ve inspired you to join us for our Winter Challenge at Aud Sentiment – I can’t wait to see your creations!  Dee
