It’s Tea Time

Happy President’s Day to all of you that live in the US – I’m enjoying my free day at home catching up on chores I should have done over the weekend.  I started out the morning with a yummy cup of coffee and settled in to look over all of the new challenges for today.  OMG! There are so many fun one today and this card highlights a few of them.

To start with is this great sketch from Seems a Little Sketchy.

Then there is this fabulous color challenge from The Shabby Tea Room.  The challenge is to incorporate the colors along with the theme of High Tea and use a doily.

My sister just loves High Tea,unfortunately there aren’t many places one can go to in here in the States to enjoy High Tea.

I’m using papers from DCWV Sweet Stack.  The stamp is a LOTV stamp, I’ve had this stamp for awhile and I don’t think it’s ever seen any ink – well it’s about time it did!   I colored the image with copics and made the cupcakes pink as the challenge at The Cupcake Craft Challenge is Fluffy Pink Cupcakes.  The border was punched using Martha Stewart’s Lace border punch and layered over a strip of cardstock to help it pop from the white doily.

Capture the Moment has a tutorial and challenge today to use glittered buttons.  Ashley Cannon Newell shows several ways to glitter up our stash of buttons.  I tried a different way and I think it was quite successful.  I dabbed my button on to my VersaMark pad and then dipped it into Stampin’ Up’s Heat & Stick powder, heated it according to the directions and then into ultrafine prisma glitter and hit it with another blast of heat to set the glitter.  LOVE IT!

The flower was made using PTI’s Beatiful Blooms II #1 die.  I used the two smaller dies and used PTI’s Raspberry Fizz ink to kiss the tips of the petals.  I curled the ends with my scoring tool.  The glittered button is the perfect embellishment to complete the card.

I added foam dots to the stamped image to give it a bit of a lift and I used a double thickness of foam to prop the flower above the stamped image.  I wish I could show you but my camera refuses to let me take close up shots that are in focus.

Thanks for stopping by!  Dee
