CIJ Recipe Challenge

Day 4I hope you are enjoying the week long festivities at Catch the Bug and our Christmas in July week!  Today we have a Recipe Challenge for you to use for your holiday project!  We’d like to see Kraft paper, Embossing (Dry or Wet) and Snowflakes.  I’m using a new image being released today.

I’m one of those that struggles to use Kraft paper.  I have not idea why but I do.  When I saw the challenge, I thought I’d try a technique I see many of you wonderful crafters do and that is to stamp with white ink on to Kraft paper.  I used white ink and on top of that I used white embossing powder and heat set the snowflakes to make a lovely background that required no patterned papers to dress it up.

Anything But a Card

Day 3

It’s Monday and at Catch the Bug it’s time for Anything But a Card and today’s challenge is to use this festive color photo:

A fun way to jazz up a generic bag is to make a card base like usual but rather than mounting it onto a card you can take a piece of cardstock the size of the card front and add a couple of inches in length to it, score it and cut a small opening in the middle of the scored line and drape it over the bag.

Image: Ava Christmas, Mistletoe Fairy – Bugaboo Stamps
Paper: Tapestry of Christmas – Nitwit Collections
Sentiment: The Pink Petticoat

Keep your eyes…

on the the Stars, and your feet on the Ground.

StarsWise words from President Teddy Roosevelt!

It’s been a bit hectic around here and I didn’t get a chance to play along with any of the 4th of July challenges.  I love the Red, White and Blue color palette so I thought I’d use it to make a masculine birthday card!

I used a star leftover from the negative diecut and heat set it with clear embossing powder and added a bit Baker’s Twine to jazz it up a bit.

Paper: Coastal – Nitwit Collections
Sentiment: Rainbow Echo
Dies: Corner Stars – Lil’ Inker Designs, Star Border – PaperTrey Ink
