Giving you the boot

Spring BootIt’s a Recipe Challenge this week at Catch the Bug – we’d like to see at least 4 layers, a Flower and some Ribbon.  I love to add lots of layers to my cards – I try to keep clean lines but that doesn’t mean one can’t add lots of layers!

Easter Egg Peeker

Easter Egg PeekerHello!  Do you know what today is? It’s new Release Tuesday at Bugaboo Stamps?  Head on over to see some super cute new images,  Here is my project featuring a new release for some inspiration.

I think she is just adorable peeking out from behind her easter egg.  I used an image with a png format and layered on to some digi paper before printing – no need for fussy cutting!  For my sentiment, I printed the sentiment on to a strip of vellum paper and mounted attached it to the card with small button brads.

For You…

For YouI made this anniversary card a couple of days ago but I just haven’t had a chance to post it.  It seems by the time I get home from work and do a few things, the evening is over and it is time to go to bed.  I must say I am enjoying the longer daylight hours in the evening, for whatever reason I am so much more production when the sun is shining.

My inspiration for my card came from Lili of the Valley’s BINGO Challenge this month.  To make my BINGO I used ribbon, pearls and flowers.  The past couple of day have been bright and sunny – the temps are even warming up so I chose to use some bright springy colors to dress up these two lovebirds.  Aren’t they just adorable all dressed up in the Sunday’s best?

So Sorry

For your loss.

So Sorry_edited-1Not very often I don’t use a stamp of some sort.  I used a variety of dies and different papers for my card – I chose blue as it is my favorite color and I think it is a nice soothing, calming color.

This is one of those cards where the camera just doesn’t capture the beauty of the card – I love all of the texture to this card from the felt doily to all of the die cuts and layers.

Flower Pocket

Flower Pocket 7

Have you seen the new Friday Freebie from Bugaboo Stamps?  I love tulips, for me they are a sign that spring is here – I can hardly wait to see them peeking out of the ground!

I used one of my favorite techniques on this card – I layered my image onto a piece of digi paper prior to printing.  This makes for a nice clean card and no fussy cutting needed!  To do this technique you will need an image in a .png or .wf format.  The .png images still need to have the image with a white fill and the outline is transparent – hope that makes sense.  I think overall my card style is clean and layers – I add a few embellishments here and there but I don’t go over the top with them.  I just really appreciate how the image is the focal piece of the card.  Don’t get me wrong – I LOVE those card with all of the embellishments!  I just have never figured out how to make them as pretty as others do.  As far as clean and simple, they may look simple but they are the hardest card in the world for me to do and forget doing a card with no layers, I just can’t do it.  So what’s your style?  What type of card do you like to see?  What’s your favorite style of card to make?

It’s a Winter Wonderland

FanSB Skate

Are you ready for a new challenge at Catch the Bug?  Well this week it’s all about a Winter Wonderland.  I think most of us have had some pretty cold winter temperatures these past couple  of weeks.  So when I think of winter, I think of snow, lots of snow.  I think the color blue captures the feeling of winter so I went with a blue monochromatic color palette – after all blue is my favorite color!  For me blue is one of those colors that can be serene and peaceful but it can also be bold or powerful depending on the shade of color used – I’ve always been drawn to this color, I don’t know why but I love it!

Go Nuts…

It’s your birthday!

It’s my birthday today too 🙂

NutsBirthdays are all about being a bit squirrelly and today’s card it just that – literally and figuratively!  In hindsight I wish I had used a cream color base as the white seems a bit too harsh for an autumn card but it’s not too bad – next time I’ll give the cream a whirl.  I always seem to struggle to make birthday cards for those special guys in my life but I think this is works well especially with the geometric embossed background.
